World War I Reconnaissance Planes

Essentially combat aviation started with unarmed reconnaissance aircraft that took photographs to report on enemy dispositions.  The first military aircraft were unarmed reconnaissance types that took photographs to report on enemy dispositions.  The Sopwith 1A2 (aka Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter) saw service with the British, French, Americans and others.
